Stoics are known for valuing virtue, rendering character as a forefront of the philosophy. Ahimsa (non-violence) is a key tenet of several religions such as Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism. So a follower of Ahimsa would not eat meat, since it would require harming an animal. So in the pursuit of maintaining character, should a Stoic harm an animal for consumption? Simply, should a Stoic be a vegetarian?
